BIS Diploma scores 2023 almost five points better than worldwide average

With an average score of 35 points in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP), the 82 students of the Class of 2023 at BIS are almost five points above the global average (30.24). More than one in five BIS students (22%) graduated with more than 40 points, which corresponds to a 1.3 Abitur grade in the German state system.

A powerhouse of the green movement at BIS

The 59-year-old Austrian is one of the driving forces behind the Eco-Schools programme and the new Sustainability Development Officer of BIS.

Climate expert tells BIS students ‘you fight for your rights’

For the fourth year in a row, the Bavarian International School hosted the BIS Sustainability Summit. The event brings nearly 100 secondary school students together with external experts in topics related to climate protection and sustainable living. Students are then asked to develop their own innovative solutions to living sustainably, and to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges. The winning team receives support from the school to bring their idea to life.

BIS is the only international school in Germany with all four IB programmes

BIS once again confirmed its position as one of the leading international schools in Germany. With an average score of 36 points in the IB Diploma Programme, the 78 students from 23 different nations performed very well (equivalent to 2.0 in the German Abitur system) - with a 99% passing rate. All ten students of the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IB CP) successfully completed their exams as well.

Entrepreneurship at the age of 16

It all started in art class on the top floor of the Schloss Haimhausen. Fabian and James, both 15 years old at the time, formed a team on an art project. The collaboration quickly developed into a deep friendship. A year later, the Austrian and Englishman are business partners and founders of their own start-up: the streetwear brand 8thUniverse.

BIS City Talk: Values and life skills are decisive factors  in education

At the BIS City Talk at the Schwabing campus of the Bavarian International School (BIS), speakers and the nearly 100 guests agreed that values and life skills must be decisive factors in today's school education. This is the only way to prepare our children for an unknown, rapidly changing future. At the Bavarian International School in Munich and Haimhausen (approx. 1,150 students from over 60 nations), developing the moral compass of children and young people is part of the academic DNA.

Bavarian International School opens its doors for visual art exhibition

The Bavarian International School hosted its Visual Art Exhibition on Wednesday, 30 March 2022 on its Haimhausen Campus, welcoming guests to view artworks by 13 students, as part of their grade 12 fine arts assessment of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP). The student group represented nine different nationalities and prepared creative works in the genres of painting, mixed media, photography, film, installation, sculpture, and fashion.

Careers Day brings 16 top-class speakers to Bavarian International School

The 11th Careers Day of Bavarian International School (BIS) attracted 16 top-class personalities from a wide variety of industries to give students an authentic insight into professions, career paths and future trends. Around 180 BIS students in grades 10 and 11 experienced a total of 38 panels of 30 minutes each at the Haimhausen Campus. The event featured speakers from Microsoft, Facebook, SAP, Airbus, Texas Instruments, Linde, The LEGO® Group, Klinikum Dritter Orden, Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt, Motel a Miio and many more. BIS welcomed U.S. Consul General Timothy E. Liston as a guest of honor.

"Knowledge is more important than ever in a time of disinformation" - Natalie Amiri visits BIS

You could have heard a pin drop while Natalie Amiri, ARD foreign correspondent, book author and TV presenter ("Weltspiegel"),  spoke in the BIS auditorium on  Wednesday. More than 80 grade 7 students were fascinated by Miss Amiri’s talk, as she shared the realities of the current situation in Afghanistan, the Taliban's takeover of power and the dramatic emergency situation there, all based on her own experiences visiting the highly destabilized country recently.
