BIS is one of only two international schools in Germany offering all four programmes of the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO): Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), Diploma Programme (DP) and Career-related Programme (CP). Our IB Diploma results (34.8 points in 2020) are well above the global average (29.9 points worldwide) year after year.

Each child’s individual development is placed at the very centre of our educational focus at BIS. Care is one of the most important core values at BIS. Intercultural competence, collaborative and inspirational learning, respect, social responsibility and resilience - all of these characterise the spirit of the school. But our commitment does not end with the students, because the entire family finds a home away from home within our BIS community.

Our school offers a 1:1 iPad programme for all students in Grades 4-6  and a 1:1 laptop programme for students in Grades 7-12. Three dedicated teachers specifically focus on Educational Technology, one per school section and campus. We support our teachers and staff in working with state-of-the-art Technology and innovative methods.

Recruitment generally begins in January for teaching positions for the upcoming academic year starting in August. While we welcome applications from teachers throughout the year, we encourage interested people to visit our website from December onwards to see actual vacancies that will likely arise.

As we are home for students from 61 nations and teachers from 29 different countries, we are well aware that our prospective new teachers may be too far away to visit us personally. That’s why we offer online based recruiting for our applicants from all around the world. 

Our Head of School, Dr. Chrissie Sorenson, carries out interviews for prospective candidates, and includes leadership team members and relevant staff for a rounded interview experience.
