The English as an Additional Language (EAL) Programme is designed to ensure that English Language Learners can successfully access each of the IB programmes in English as well as develop their Mother Tongue. In order to achieve these goals, the programme provides English Language Learners specialised instruction in English language acquisition from qualified EAL staff. The programme offers differentiated support in grade level and subject area classes and provides the opportunity for students to develop their Mother Tongue within the school’s curriculum.
In addition to providing direct instruction in English, EAL staff co-teach grade level and subject area classes and provide on-going professional development in best practices for our faculty.
The EAL handbook provides current operational guidelines, documents, forms and background information relating to the English as an Additional Language (EAL) programme at Bavarian International School.
