The BIS Art Department can be found up under the beams of the top floor of the castle. The environment is exciting and dynamic with all sorts of artistic things continually happening.

Apart from the more traditional artistic pursuits such as Fine Art (drawing, painting, and sculpture/3D),  BIS offers Computer Graphics and Digital Photography.

One of the Art Department's high points each year is the Fashion Show.  Every October, all art students from grades 9 to 12 strut their stuff on the catwalk, showing off marvelous, one-of-a-kind fashions they have created from challenging materials such as newsprint, power tape, cardboard, foam or foil.

Although art is all around us, it is often missed through familiarity or lack of observation. It is the aim of the Art Department to get students to SEE AGAIN, with new eyes, the wonders of everyday things….. the extraordinary in the ordinary.

All students have art workbooks which can become works of art in themselves.  They soon fill up with research into different artists and movements, and cut outs from magazines and information from books and the internet, containing inspiration from other cultures, museum visits, sketches, experiments, critiques, plans and notes from class.
