The drama department at B.I.S offers drama courses to students in grades 6-12. During the middle school years, students learn not only various dramatic techniques but also social skills. Teamwork, intercultural communication and the ability to express one’s own thoughts are core goals of the middle school drama curriculum.

Students in grades 9 and 10 have the opportunity to select the IGCSE Drama Course. This course gives a deeper insight into dramatic techniques and styles and also deepens the understanding of drama. Students find out about the different approaches of professional theatre.

This school year, BIS starts down a new path with the introduction of Theatre Arts at the IB level. We will be implementing the new program, re-written by the IBO, to allow our students to explore this art form as an individual and as an ensemble member; as a global citizen, and as a developing artist. Members of the class will participate as performers, dramaturges, audience members, and designers.
