WELCOME

The Upper School (grades 9 -12) occupies a baroque manor house which provides an inspiring atmosphere in which to aspire to the heights of academic and personal excellence.  Our beautiful school building inculcates aesthetic awareness and an appreciation for our host country's heritage and cultural wealth.  Upper School teachers have a strong commitment to the whole child, which is reflected in our curriculum.  Emphasis is placed on sports and aesthetics, as exemplified by the annual fashion show, an October highlight, run by our well established visual arts department. Our students have excellent opportunites to develop confidence in a public arena through assemblies and our stong MUN programme.  Our commitment to international education is reflected in a Modern Languages programme offers English, German, French, Spanish and Japanese.

The senior years at the Bavarian International School are based around two world class education programs: the International General Certificate of Secondary Education for grades 9 and 10 and the International Baccalaureate Diploma program for grades 11 and 12. Both programmes provide a balanced curriculum that ensures all students have the opportunity to develop interests and abilities no matter where their individual strengths may lie. Our students study eight subjects at IGCSE level and six for the IB Diploma. IB graduates from the Bavarian International School progress to top universities in Europe, North America and Australasia each year.

As well as the formal curriculum, students have the opportunity to participate in extra curricular activities such as the Model United Nations, competitive sport, public speaking, student government, and student journalism. Part of the IB diploma requirements includes the CAS program (Community Action and Service) which requires each student to become involved in community service.  Through these activities, students develop character, form solid study habits, and prepare to become members in the global community.

We are proud of the role we as educators, in partnership with parents, take in preparing young individuals for further education, and are very proud of our students outstanding record of success.  IB graduates from the Bavarian International School progress to top universities in Europe, North America and Australasia each year.
