BIS Ski Program News

Calling all snow lovers. The BIS Ski Club is your ticket to the mountains again this ski season.

This season, the BIS Ski Program will once again be offering Skiing and Snowboarding opportunities at the Scheffau Ski Area in Austria. BIS Students, Parents and Staff are welcome to join the program for a day in the mountains. The club requires no long-term commitment; you can choose to ski any of the days that you wish and you are welcome to join the groups that you are capable of skiing with. Skiers and snowboarders, children and adults, beginners and advanced; you are all welcome.

The Ski Program is in its 12th year of taking the BIS community skiing on Saturdays in December, January, February and March.

BIS ALPINE SKI RACE TEAM

Advanced skiers looking for a racing challenge are welcome to join the BIS Alpine Ski Team. The Alpine Ski Team has on slope training on Saturdays in December, January, February and March and participates in two races in Austria. The Alpine Ski Team is generally reserved for students in the Secondary School however, exceptions can be made for experienced Primary School ski racers.

BIS SKI LESSONS – LEVEL 1 (Basic beginner) to LEVEL 9 (Very advanced)

For students of any ability level and in any grade level from Pre-Reception to Grade 12 that would like to learn how to ski or, would like to enjoy skiing with a group of similar ability level students. The BIS Ski Lessons offer instructor led group skiing for students in the Primary and Secondary School. The trusted and capable instructors at Ski School Scheffau will lead the Primary and Secondary School Ski Lessons. Levels 1 to 3 are for beginners who are new, or still relatively new to skiing. Levels 4 to 6 are for intermediate skiers with skiing experience but still have a lot to learn about turning and control on varying slope types. Levels 7 to 9 are for advanced skiers that are capable of tackling all terrain with skill and confidence. Ski Groups 7 to 9 will encompass the groups formerly know as Junior Race and the Freestyle Team.

COMMUNITY SKIING OPPORTUNITY

Parents and siblings are welcome to join the group for a Saturday of skiing or snowboarding. You will be able to register for the available Saturdays by choosing ‘Community Skiing Opportunity’, when the Ski Program Registration is open.
